Young Israel of White Plains
Twenty-Sixth Anniversary Dinner

Youth Service Award

Aryeh Schonbrun

For Aryeh, the Young Israel of White Plains has been a second home since he was born. At its bima -- as an infant and toddler while accompanying his father who was performing gabbai duties, as a precocious preschooler davening the end of mussaf, and now as a baal kriah and chazan. In his second home he counts as close family many congregants who span the generations with whom he learns Torah, prays, and discusses everything under the sun, sometimes in multiple languages. He has always been a full participant in all shul programs and chesed activities: for many years he was the youngest speaker at the Tikkun Leil Shavuot. He has taught a new generation of young boys to daven the end of mussaf, has led youth groups, and most recently lained Megillat Esther for the kehilah. Aryeh will be graduating from Yeshiva University High School for Boys this year. Next year, he will be attending Yeshivat Birkat Moshe in Maale Adumim, Israel.
